Septic Patients

So you have your typical septic patient; hypotensive, fever, tachycardic, AMS. But, did you know, that in our geriatric patients, they can also be hypothermic.

Hypothermia in our geriatric patients is a terrible sign. In most cases, the mortality rate for these patients, is often higher than normal. Hypothermia for the geriatric is caused by either a failure of vasoconstriction, or due to an abnormal hypothalamic response.
